The National Rivers Final has re-arranged to held on Sunday, 23rd November
Apologies that this information is getting to you rather later than I had hoped and still a little sketchy on detail.
We have very kindly been given the Manor beat on the Itchen, See map attached. It's a fantastic bit of fishing and we are really very lucky to get a chance to fish it.
- The River final will be held on the River Itchen near Winchester on Sunday the 23rd November. It's highly unlikely to be cancelled again due to adverse weather conditions as it's a chalk stream and not as susceptible to flooding.
- The final will be split into morning and afternoon sessions, you will fish at least one morning and one afternoon session.
- We will split the river up into beats and you will be restricted on where you can go. You may have a peg rather like that in the World Championships.
- There are currently 12 entrants to the Final. We will if the beats are big enough fish three or four sessions. If it s not we will split the finalists into two groups of 6. unfortunately I will not see the venue until the day before to make a good assessment of the beat and want to make sure that everyone has a good chance of catching a number of fish.
- The fishery rules are one fly upstream, and no wading, Other than that the normal river rules will apply.
- Only grayling will count in the final.
- There is no practise on the water itself, there are a couple of beats near by of you want to get some practise on (details below). If anyone needs any advice on tactics and flies I am more than happy to discuss these with you.
- We will start early in the morning, I'm suggesting we will need to muster probably at 8 o'clock. Precise details of where we meet and times will be sent to competitors.
- As we have been given the water, the costs are much reduced, we have not cashed cheques from the postponed river final. So there is a new entry fee of £10 per angler, this will cover the costs of the medals etc....
- We will not be providing food, you will need to make your own arrangements.
- There is some information on accommodation below if you need them.
- I have some new EYFA river flies sets , Most of the flies on the packs will catch grayling on chalkstreams at this time of year please let me know if you need any.
That's all the information I have at the present time. I will endeavour to keep you all updated. if there is anything you want to ask me about please don't hesitate to give me a call.
