2009 Richard Wheatley National Rivers Final |

This year’s final returned to Bolton Abbey on the River Wharfe in Yorkshire.
With the weather improving the river was in tremendous form with good fly hatches and fish being caught on nymphs and dry flies.
Top rod receiving the Tom Bilson trophy and 2009 Champion was Thomas Gott with a total of 25 fish; Tom is the first Youth to have held both the EYFA loch style and river titles.

National Championship Results 2009 |

The England Youth National was held at Grafham Water on Sunday 12 July 2009. After two weeks of very difficult fishing, conditions were going to be challenging for the competitors aged between 12 and 18. Each pairing was accompanied by an experienced boatman, with the top ten anglers plus reserves going through to represent England at the Youth International to be held in England on Wednesday 28 July 2010.
